Building Our Future: A District Update
I want to extend a heartfelt thank you to our entire school community for your incredible adaptability as we begin our construction journey. Change can be challenging, but your patience is helping us build a better environment for our students.
Construction & Campus Navigation
As work progresses, please continue to follow all posted signage and stay extra vigilant for students crossing campus as they navigate new paths to their classrooms.
Triplett Wellman has begun demolishing several existing entries. Once final details are secured, we will transition into the "put-back" phase and begin new construction. Despite the dust and fences, we are still successfully hosting our end-of-year events, and we appreciate our visitors for their flexibility in navigating our adjusted parking areas.
Student Achievement & Academic Growth
Our students continue to shine. Please join me in celebrating our High School Band, which placed in the top three of their classification at the Oregon State Music Competition this past week.
On the academic front, state testing is officially "in the books." Early results are very encouraging, showing that our students are making significant progress. Growth is our ultimate goal, and these results indicate that our hard work is paying off.
Budget & Fiscal Responsibility
The budget committee recently finalized our outlook for the upcoming school year. Our primary focus has been on identifying savings within various accounts to ensure we remain fiscally responsible.
While many districts across Oregon are facing significant hurdles, Willamina is currently in a stable position. For the coming year, we are "pulling in the wings" on discretionary spending to keep any necessary reductions away from our staff and students for as long as possible. We are mindful that future years may bring challenges—specifically, PERS increases and declining enrollment—but we are planning to meet them head-on.
Looking Ahead: Summer Learning & Kinder Roundup
We have some fantastic news regarding the future of our academic support: Willamina has received summer learning funding for the next three years! This grant is a game-changer as we work to close the achievement gap and provide quality learning time for our students during the break.

Last week’s Kinder Roundup was a great success. If you have an incoming kindergartner and were unable to attend, please reach out to Willamina Elementary for a personal registration session. We can’t wait to meet our newest Bulldogs!
