Each January, we take time to recognize and celebrate our school board members. These dedicated individuals serve as volunteers, generously giving their time and expertise to fulfill an important leadership role in our community. Willamina is no exception.
Our school board members oversee all aspects of the district, including the budget, construction projects, curriculum, and collaboration with the superintendent on the overall management of the system. While their focus is always on students and student success, they are often faced with complex and challenging decisions—some of which may not always be popular, but are necessary to ensure the long-term health and success of the district.
We are grateful for the continued service and commitment of our board members: Roy Whitman, David Shenk, Noah Gephart, and Yvonne Cerrato. Their consistent presence and support help guide the direction of the district and strengthen our schools.
This month, we also extend a special thank you to Justine Flynn for her time and service on the board. Justine has stepped down from her position to focus on the development of the CTGR School. Her dedication has been greatly appreciated, and her departure creates an opening that the current board will work to fill over the coming months.
Schools are the heart of a community. They serve not only as places of learning but also as hubs for connection, collaboration, and shared values. Our school board plays a vital role in honoring and upholding the educational principles that reflect the community we serve. We thank them for their ongoing commitment to Willamina’s students and families.
Thank You to Our Board of Education!
Mike Gass, Superintendent
