Summer School in Full Swing, Big Things Ahead!
Summer school is off to a strong start, with students working hard and engaging in hands-on learning experiences. Each week includes either an onsite presentation or an exciting field trip—recent outings have included the zoo, the aquarium, local businesses, and the public library. These experiences are not only fun but deeply enriching for our students.
Meanwhile, our campus is preparing for a major transformation. Though the design process is taking a bit longer than expected, we're looking forward to a summer full of construction and renovation next year. Planned updates include enhanced security at both the elementary and high school entrances, a new counseling center, and flexible indoor and outdoor learning spaces designed for both students and staff. These improvements reflect our ongoing commitment to providing a safe, innovative, and supportive environment for the entire Bulldog community.
We’re also excited to welcome new staff members this fall. Keep an eye on future newsletters—we’ll be introducing these incredible individuals in the coming months.
In other exciting news, our very own Nutrition Director, Lynne Shore, has received national recognition for her outstanding work. Her initiatives, including the Farmer’s Market for Kids and Root Viewer Education Programs, have earned a USDA Healthy Meals Incentive (HMI) Recognition Award for Innovation in Nutrition Education.
Here’s an excerpt from the award letter:
"I am pleased to announce that our Farmer’s Market for Kids and Root Viewer Education Programs have received a USDA Healthy Meals Incentive (HMI) Recognition Award for Innovation in Nutrition Education!
The HMI Recognition Awards highlight school food authorities (SFAs) that demonstrate exemplary practices, foster student and community engagement, and utilize strategies consistent with the 2020–2025 Dietary Guidelines for Americans.
This award category specifically acknowledges the successful implementation of nutrition education initiatives that connect the classroom, cafeteria, community, and home for students and their families."
We are incredibly proud of Lynne and our entire cafeteria team for going above and beyond to make nutrition both fun and educational. Congratulations, Lynne and team—what an outstanding achievement!
