Run for the Arts
We have moved our annual Run for the Arts fundraiser to the Fall, when good weather is a bit more predictable! This event will be held October 8th, each classroom will have a 30 minute block of time to go down to our track and walk/run as many laps as they can. Please feel free to come join your student on the track that day. All funds support our Art program at the elementary school; supplies, assemblies, and family art night.

Professional Development

Several new state initiatives are driving our efforts in professional development this school year; continued implementation of the Common Core State Standards, proficiency-based reporting (HB 2220), and student growth and professional development goals embedded into the teacher evaluation system (HB 290). WES converted to proficiency reporting two years ago, prior to legal mandate, but we continue to improve our efforts in creating reports that are user-friendly and address any questions our families have. Several staff members will be attending professional development opportunities October 11th during State-wide Inservice Day.

Lost and Found
Our lost and found collection is growing rapidly. It is very helpful if you label your child’s clothing with their last name, we will make a concerted effort to get it back to them. If you happen to be in the building please check the lost and found rack, near the small gym, for missing items.

School Hours
Supervision for students begins at 7:45 am each day and ends at 3:15 pm. The academic day begins at 8:00 am for 5th & 6th grade students and 8:15 am for K-4th grade. Kindergarten students are finished with the academic day at 2:30 pm each day, supervised snack and recess is provided until buses arrive at 3:15 pm, when all remaining students are released. We appreciate your efforts to have students at school the entire time of their academic day.
